The Fire Department of Kiskunfélegyháza City organised again (for the fourth time) the traditional Fireman Memorial Running on the 11th September 2005 in memoriam of our heroic brother-in-arms fire fighters, who have died in action on duty. This year - besides the Memorial Running - due to a possibility, which was given by the European Union, an international conference and a Firemen Memorial Evening were held with the financial support of the EU making the guests' program more interesting, especially as New York Fire Chief Dan Daly (FDNY) and some of the partner - and brother towns of Kiskunfélegyháza had notified that their delegation would like to participate at the event. For these facts a number of English, French, German, Danish, Polish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Slovakian, Serbian, American and inland and transborder Hungarian firefighters attended the Memorial Running. Fireman's Prayer When I am called to duty, God, wherever flames may rage. Give me strength to save a life whatever be its age. Help me to embrace a little child before it is too late Or to save an older person from the horror of that fate. Enable me to be alert to hear the weakest shout and quickly and efficiently to put the fire out. I want to fill my calling and to give the best in me. To guard my every neighbour and protect their property. And if according to Your will I have to lose my life, Please bless with Your protecting hand my children and my wife.
